damfest's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- spaciously punk'd [written on Saturday night] Being forced to move out of Oxford and back to Cedar Falls within the next couple days is a blessing in disguise. I know this, I just can't see it right now. I don't want to return to Cedar Falls until I absolutely have to, but I'm not doing anything in Oxford besides wasting my time. I'm not working or earning money or even doing a lot of social activity stuff. I'm just here, existing, waiting until I can move my stuff back to my parent's house, make a trip to Portland and find an apartment near the end of July. Returning to Cedar Falls this early will help with my job search. I won't have to mail out the two job applications I picked up on my way out of town on Tuesday, although I still haven't filled them out. I suppose I could do that this weekend, when I'm not helping Leah move or packing up my own belongings. The only major thing I need to do here before I move is to cancel my cell phone service with Cincy Wireless. If I can do that over the phone then I'll cancel it when I get back to Cedar Falls. Otherwise I might have to drive to Colerain and do it in person. I'd hate to do that because having a cell phone with me when I'm driving on the interstate offers good peace of mind. I do need to call them and find out how my deposit will be returned to me and have them forward any future mail to my parents' address. I've been here a little over three months and I haven't acquired much in that time. All the things I brought with me fit in my car (the trunk, the back seat and the passenger seat). If I can remember how I managed to cram everything into my car I should get everything back to CF in one trip. Like hell I'm making two! >>>>><<<<< I saw "Troy" on Friday. During the film I noticed how familiar the musical score sounded and told myself "this is James Horner"; it sounded very similar to "Enemy at the Gates". The acting was acceptable and the battle scenes appropriately epic. The one-to-one scenes were the highlights, between the various warriors of the Aegean and Troy (especially when Achilles' leap-and-stab technique was showcased). Peter O'Toole was very good, as were Eric Bana and Sean Pean (who played Boromir in the LOTR series.....ironic, how I saw his "brother" in a film two days earlier). I wish Peterson had found a way to incorporate the gods into the film. The story's not the same without them. >>>>><<<<< [written on Sunday night] My car is full of stuff. Very full. I honestly don't know how I managed to pack everything into it when I moved out here. Seems like it's much more of a tight squeeze this time. And I've still got a blanket, two computers, a few dishes and some food items that will be packed right before I leave. I called Cinci Wireless today and got the number to call when I want to cancel my service. Seems pretty cut and dry. When it's all official they'll deduct my most recent bill from my $200 deposit and mail me a check for the remainder. So there's something to look forward to, getting money in the mail. I want to arrive in Cedar Falls while my parents' place is deserted, so it'll be easier for me to move everything inside. In order to do that I'd have to leave Oxford no earlier than midnight and no later than 8 a.m. I'd bake the remainder of my chicken nuggets but I'm not hungry right now. If Leah doesn't want to keep the mattress I've been sleeping on for the past three months I'm going to flop it on top of the dumpster right before I go. This section of my entry has fallen prey to randomness, so I'll end it here. My next update should be as a resident of Cedar Falls. 9:14 p.m. - 2004-05-16 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
